Why the convoy? We need to minimize the impact of nearly 350 bike riders through town – for the continuation of this and
every
other cycling event we appreciate your cooperation with our unique
requirements.
Spare tire/tubes? We will not DQ any rider who flats on stages 1 & 2 – limp back to reg – we’ll assign you the final points in
your category. You will be at the bottom of GC but can continue racing for stage placings/prizes. It’s our intention to give every
racer
every opportunity to race your brains out!
New for 2005 – Tunitas Creek stop sign. At the intersection of Lobitos Creek and Tunitas Creek, an off-camber, hairpin turn –
there is a stop sign that must be observed. We require riders to come to a stop and then proceed. Our turn marshals will be
watching for oncoming traffic but for your safety you are required to stop. You don’t have to unclip or put a foot down – you’ll
probably
be going fairly slow to begin with – but this is a
critical segment of the course. Here’s the photo link to illustrate the
intersection

We will be placing mileage markers on the circuit for
pacing, starting with 10 miles to go and including 5/4/3/2/1 mile to go.
Rider pick-up points. After finishing Stage 1 and Stage 2 we’ve got designated pick-up locations for team mates to collect
their riders and drive them back to race HQ. For Stage 1 this is located off Highway 1 on
Our current weather forecast is a continuation of the gorgeous spring conditions for both days – but it’s weather, after all –
please be prepared for all possibilities.
