Men leaders – Lap #1 and we THINK this is Wellens and the Sven-ster but we’ll never know for sure because the doofy promoters DIDN’T PRINT A PROGRAM! This was the same group that had a false start at their World Cup last year – on live TV. No program? Oh, please

Franzoi – on one of the 3 Jumbo-trons spread around the circuit – this was the end of Franzoi’s chances for the title – JP is just ahead of this Fanzoi/Vervecken duel and Enrico finds the soft spot and over he goes.

Nys Crash – Jumbo-tron of the Nys-enheimer finding the slime and root – and over he goes. This was his only solo biff- the other 2 were in company – Wellens and Vervecken took him out when they lost contact

Sandpit Belgians – The first lap it was Belgium 3 – World – zippo. At least for another few seconds because in the next Jumbo-tron frame, the 4-wheeled camera vehicle changed history

Wellens crash – this camera operator had no problems for the previous 3 events, but on lap 1 he clipped on of the plastic barricades and spun it into Wellens path and – can you say “Broken wrist?” It seemed to me to be a bit narrow for a fast, paved downhill and I’ll bet the Belgian camera driver is still wondering if it’s safe to come home.

Page Leads – “Mom, I was on the Jumbo-tron! Everybody saw me!” That ends shivers down my spine.
